  • The first thing that pops into my head is lunchtime. From 7:30 a.m. on, I’d be looking forward to my lunch break and the chance to socialize.

  • I went to middle school and high school in Townsville, Australia, which is on the coast near the Great Barrier Reef. I remember always being excited to start, but at the same time, who likes school? College at UB was good… maybe I’ll go back someday.

  • I grew up in the city as a kid, and I can still vividly recall the distinct sound of metal football cleats coming down my road every day as the Bishop Ryan High School football players marched to their scrimmages in Houghton Park (where the Buffalo Bills used to practice). That, for me, was the sound of the new school year, as everyone’s focus changed along with the season.

Patti Brocato says:

When I started attending the university, I had chorus (directed by H. Simon), in an off room, upstairs in Goodyear Hall. I would ride my wheelchair to the basement, park it, then walk with my cane to go upstairs...into this secluded room...it was sort of scary. Also, when I worked at Health Related Professions, 4th floor, Kimball Tower), I could walk or ride over to Norton (now the Dental Bldg), & enjoy the Student Union. I was still a student, but all the student clubs, newspapers, rathskeller, etc., were there...all in one bldg.
