Workplace violence policy established
UB has developed a Workplace Violence Prevention Policy that outlines how the university will respond to threats, acts of violence and acts of aggression in the workplace.
UB is committed to providing a safe work environment for all employees, the policy states, and has a zero tolerance policy with regard to any act or threat of violence made in the workplace, on university property, or by an employee while conducting university business.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the policy.
Employees who are victims of violence, receiving threats or have a specific cause to be concerned for their safety can request a police escort by calling University Police at 645-2227.
UB employees have a responsibility to report all incidents and concerns regarding potential workplace violence to University Police at 645-2227, or in an emergency at 645-2222, or to their supervisor, and/or the Office of Employee Relations at 645-7777.
Charge leave credits for ‘snow day’
University Human Resources is reminding employees that although UB was closed on Feb. 2 due to extraordinary weather conditions, the Governor’s Office has not, as of this time, excused employees from charging leave credits on this date.
Employees should charge the time not worked to vacation, personal leave, compensatory time or leave without pay. Those who do not have sufficient leave accruals may borrow from future accruals.
Employees who previously had scheduled approved leave for this day must charge accruals for their absence and will not have accruals restored in the event the “snow day” is excused in the future.
