Laura Taddeo, associate librarian in the Arts & Sciences Libraries, has received a $2,500 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to support library programming examining the life and work of Louisa May Alcott, best known as the author of the children’s book “Little Women.” The grant is one of 30 awarded by the NEH to libraries across the country to develop programming examining Alcott’s untraditional life, varied body of published work and place in American culture of Alcott. The projects build upon the NEH-supported documentary “Louisa May Alcott: The Woman Behind ‘Little Women’” and a companion biography of the same name.

Michael Glick, dean of the School of Dental Medicine, has been selected to receive the Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Education Award. The award is given by the Shils Entrepreneurial Education Fund, which is administered by the American Dental Association Foundation, to recognize outstanding entrepreneurial initiatives that educate the community at large on the impact of oral health and provide educational opportunities for those in the dental industry. The nominating committee cited Glick “as an outstanding transformational leader” and for his “steadfast editorial voice and advocacy on behalf of the underserved.”

Guy Tomassi, director of development for the College of Arts and Sciences, has been named a board member-at-large of the Western New York Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
