I enjoy going through the buildings and looking at all the animals, as well as people watching. It always seems to be such a happy and carefree day. Sampling all the various “fair foods” only adds to the delight.

Travel Services - My favorite things: the animals, especially horses, and the food. And check out that woodcarving! I grew up on a farm raising a quarter horse and showing him at our county fair. So, I definitely relate to the kids’ excitement at the fair showing the animals they have worked so hard with over the year. And I enjoy eating outside in a fun atmosphere, especially the corn, chicken, peanut butter taffy and sausages.

School of Dental Medicine - I go to the fair every year with my wife and two sons—we love it. My kids like the rides and messy treats. My wife likes seeing our boys have fun. I like the cheesy, slightly sordid sideshows: the world’s smallest horse, the alien babies, the half woman/half spider. You have to expect to be conned a little bit at the fair, that’s part of the experience. I also like trying my hand at games of skill and chance—this might be the year I shoot the basketball through that abnormally small hoop and win a huge stuffed Scooby Doo.

University Communications - Spending time with my family. It has always been a fun day that I spend with my children and their grandparents riding the amusement rides, eating our favorite foods and making memories to last a lifetime. My favorite food, of course, is the raspberry swirl ice cream, grandma’s is the fried dough and the kids love the pizza!

UB Dental Alumni Association - My favorite thing about the Erie County Fair is the Indian Village. I like to watch the traditional dance performances and check out the food stands where they have such things as fry bread and Indian tacos. I also used to like the Demolition Derby, but I haven’t been to that in years.
