UB on the Green opens fifth season

UB on the Green, the university’s free outdoor performance series, will open its fifth season on Sept. 7 on the Hayes Hall lawn, South Campus, with an eclectic performance by Critt’s Juke Joint, a band offering a bit of American roots, blues, jazz, funk, reggae, hip-hop and improv.
The concert, as well as all other UB on the Green performances, will take place from 6-8 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic, lawn chairs and blankets. Light refreshments are available for sale. UB on the Green is an alcohol-free event.
The series will continue on Sept. 14 at Rotary Field, off Bailey Avenue on the east side of the South Campus, with an appearance by Billy Drease Williams, who uses his positive experiences and talents to encourage and inspire students through hip-hop performances he calls “Finding A.M.Y.”
Also appearing with be the R&B and crossover group N2Deep.
The series returns to the Hayes lawn on Sept. 21 for a concert by the Genkin Philharmonic, UB’s 10-piece electro-acoustic chamber ensemble that performs contemporary music from the rock, jazz, improvised and classical genres.
Also performing will be the Buffalo Chips UB’s male A cappella group.
The concerts are part of UB’s Inauguration Week events.
