Campaign offers parking pass incentive

Published: Oct. 25, 2012

The 2012 Employees Campaign for the Community kicked off on Oct. 12 and to date has raised $150,000 toward its goal of $815,000. Employees who have not yet made a gift may do so at the campaign website.

Faculty and staff who make a donation by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 30 will be eligible to win a special parking tag for the spring 2013 semester. The winner will be announced on Oct. 31.

Since it started 36 years ago as part of the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA), UB’s campaign has raised more than $17 million for charitable organizations locally and around the world, according to this year’s campaign chair, A. Scott Weber, vice provost and dean for undergraduate education.

“About two-thirds of donations are designated for organizations serving Buffalo Niagara,” Weber says. “I realize that many of us give financially in other areas of our lives. However, our collective participation sends an important signal to all citizens of our area concerning the recognition that our generosity is needed and appropriate. Our financial support is a natural extension of our daily impact on our community through our scholarship, teaching and service.”

UB donors can choose to contribute to any of more than 600 health, human service, educational, environmental and cultural organizations. Employees can:

  • Make a donation by Oct. 30 either online or with a paper pledge form, also available on the campaign’s website, to qualify for the free parking pass drawing.
  • Read more about the impact of their gift.
  • Read personal stories about fellow UB employees who have been helped by the campaign.
  • Check out the campaign scorecard showing the progress of each unit.
