UB Sculptors

Work in bronze, stone, wood, and fabricated metal, through Sept. 26 in the Art Department Gallery located in the Center for the Arts, North Campus. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday-Friday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Free admission.

Lekay's "Delires"

John Lekay's sculpture installation "Delires De L'Ange Neutre" is on display through Sept. 17 in the First Floor Gallery of the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

Volo's solo show

Alfonso Volo is a poet and an artist whose work is on view through Nov. 5 in the University Gallery, Center for the Arts, North Campus. He may embrace clichÚs.

Lockwood tours and BISON demos

BISON demonstrations followed by tours of Lockwood Library on the North Campus are scheduled Friday at 3 and 4 p.m., Tuesday at 7 and 8 p.m., and Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. and noon. All sessions meet in Lockwood Room 223; no pre-registration is required.

Many Asian scholars

The New York Conference on Asian Studies holds its annual meeting Friday and Saturday at the University Inn and Conference Center, 2401 North Forest Rd. The meeting is hosted by UB, and chaired by Thomas Burkman, director of the UB Asian Studies Program. For registration information, call 645-3474.

International coffee

The International Committee of UB's Women's Club hosts a monthly coffee social on the third Tuesday of the month, beginning Tuesday, from 10 a.m.-noon in Room 250 of the Student Union on the North Campus. Students, faculty, staff, and community are welcome.

Graduate School faculty meeting

The autumn meeting of the Graduate School faculty is scheduled Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. in the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus. Provost Thomas E. Headrick will give the address, "Conversation About UB's Future."

How are your gums?

Healthy adults between 18 and 75 are needed for a study of gum disease conducted by the School of Dental Medicine. Those selected for the one-month-long study will help periodontists evaluate the effectiveness of electric and manual toothbrushes in reducing oral plaque. Reimbursement is $100. For information, call 829-3850 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Studying memory and moodiness

Persons 60 and older are invited to participate in a UB study of mood and memory, conducted by Ralphy Benedict, Ph.D., assistant professor of neurology and psychiatry, and a student, Matthew Hine. Two one-hour written tests will be administered over a one-month period, in the home of the participant, or at the Erie County Medical Center. There will be reimbursement. Participants must have finished eighth grade, but not have gone beyond a four-year undergraduate degree. For information, call 832-0966.

Arts center fund-raiser postponed

Irene Worth has cancelled her Oct. 28 one-woman show, "Portrait of Edith Wharton," which was to have been a benefit for the Center for the Arts. For up-to-date information on Center for the Arts events, call 645-ARTS.
