OPENING EXHIBIT

Paintings of spirit

Gary Wolfe's MAH thesis exhibit, "Painting, of a Spirit," opens with a reception today from 5-7 p.m. in the Art Department Gallery located in the Center for the Arts on the North Campus. The exhibit continues through Nov. 10. Gallery hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Also today, the artist will give a slide-lecture on Judeo-Christian imagery in 20th-century art, at 6:45 p.m. in the Screening Room of the Center for the Arts. Admission to these events is free.

The art of women's health

The Women's Health Initiative Clinic is presenting the second annual "Breast & Cervical Health Art Exhibit" through Nov. 30 at the clinic, 65 Farber Hall, South Campus.

Library has Archives exhibit

"The Torchbearer," an exhibit by University Archives honoring the 75th anniversary of the UB endowment campaigns of the 1920s led by Walter P. Cooke, is on view through Nov. 9 on the main floor of Lockwood Library, North Campus.

Architects on South Campus

"Hamilton Houston Lownie Architects" is on view through Nov. 3 in James Dyett Exhibition Hall, 335 Hayes Hall, South Campus. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is presented by the School of Architecture & Planning.

Volo's solo show

Alfonso Volo is a poet and an artist whose work is on view through Nov. 5 in the University Gallery, Center for the Arts, North Campus.

ACE/NIP breakfast meeting

Mary Roseberry will give a talk, "Speak Up and Get Ready for the Silence," at the ACE/NIP breakfast meeting Nov. 3 at 8:30 a.m. in Room 211 of Building G on the Niagara County Community College campus in Sanborn. Professor Roseberry is from the NCCC faculty. ACE/NIP is the American Council on Education, and the National Identification Program for Women in Education. The cost of the breakfast meeting is $7.
