Richard W. More, chaired Friends of Architecture A memorial service was held Jan. 29 in Trinity Episcopal Church for Richard W. More, 71, a retired marketing executive for Occidental Petroleum Corp. who was active in UB's Friends of the School of Architecture and Planning, serving as its chair for four years until 1995. More died Jan. 23 in Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. He began his career as a chemist. After working in the research laboratories for the former Hooker Chemical Corp., he shifted into sales. He later was placed in charge of the New Business Development Division. Involved in several civic organizations after his retirement in 1986 from Occidental Petroleum, he played a key role in the establishment of an endowment in memory of James G. Dyett, founder of the Friends of the UB School of Architecture and Planning. More, a graduate of Harvard, earned a master's degree in business administration at UB. An accomplished figure skater, he was an avid tennis player, skier and sailor. Past president of the Harvard Club of Buffalo, he also served as director of the Buffalo Council on World Affairs.
