The Undergraduate Library announces the 1996 poetry contests sponsored in cooperation with the Department of English and the Friends of the University Libraries. Two prizes of $100 each are offered for the best poems submitted by University at Buffalo students. The Academy of American Poets contest is open to both graduate and undergraduate students. The Friends of the University Libraries prize is for undergraduates only. Entries should consist of one or more typewritten, double-spaced poems, not to exceed a total of six pages. The writer's name should not appear on the poems, but on a cover sheet with the name of the prize and the writer's name, class, address and phone number. Entries should be sent to Margaret R. Wells, Director, Undergraduate Library, 107 Capen Hall, North Campus, Buffalo, N.Y., 14260-2200. The deadline is Friday, March 15. Winners will be notified by April 15 and will be invited to read from their works at a poetry reading to be held on Thursday, April 25 at Noon in the Poetry/Rare Books Room of the Libraries (420 Capen Hall, North Campus).
