It continues this year with speakers who will discuss centuries of Polish theater, the influence of visual artists on stage design and the ritual and theater of two Mexican Indian cultures.
Talks take place on the second Friday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Screening Room (Room 112) in the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus. They are free of charge and open to the public.
The series, sponsored by the UB Department of Theatre and Dance and directed by Assistant Professor Maria Horne, includes:
"The Soul and Flesh of the Polish Theater," a slide lecture by Kazimierz Braun, a professor of theater and dance at UB, who will examine 10 centuries of Polish theater, Friday, Oct. 11.
"Ritual and Theater in Contemporary Maya-Chol and Chontal Cultures," a lecture/demonstration by Mexican performance artist Leandro Soto, Friday, Nov. 8.
"Ten International Visual Artists on the Stage," lecture by artist Kurt Kornacki, curator of the UB Art Department Gallery, will explore contributions to set design made by some of the 20th century's most significant painters, Friday, Dec. 13.
