ERIC (educational resources) is now available on BISON II's deluxe OVID search system. Unlike other licensed information resources, ERIC can be accessed by those logging on the BISON II from outside the UB network by typing the ID: eric and the PASSWORD: ericovid. Other BISON databases that have migrated to OVID on BISON II include Art Index and PsycLit.
The University Libraries no longer subscribe to the online Wilson indexes Readers' Guide Abstracts, Applied Science & Technology Abstracts, General Sciences Abstracts, Humanities Index and the Social Sciences Index. Rather, the contents of these databases, and much more, including many actual full-text articles are available on BISON II's Infotrac SearchBank databases General Reference Center and Expanded Academic Index.
You can reach these BISON II index databases from your home or offices provided you have a UB computer account and are coming in with the domain buffalo.edu. Though you might want to come into the University Libraries and test drive one of our beautiful new Sun workstations! The URL for BISON II is http://bison2.lib.buffalo.edu. If you do not have a graphical browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer, you can search the plain text version of BISON II by typing lynx bison2.lib.buffalo.edu at your computer account system prompt. For questions concerning the index databases, contact Mike Lavin, mrlavin@acsu.buffalo.edu, Lockwood Library, 645-2611. For information on accessing BISON II with the domain buffalo.edu, contact the Computing Center Help Desk at 645-3542.
