The Expertise, Inventions, and Facilities database has over 50,000 records with first-person narratives by scientists about their research. You can search by institution or look for a colleague's research interests.
Two bibliographic databases are also included, the U.S. Patent Citation Database and the MEDLINE database.
Funding information is one of the strengths of this site, with several options available for searching. Try the Funding Opportunities database for research grant information from public and private sources around the world. Federally-Funded Research in the U.S., has links to five funded grants databases, which include the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Small Business Innovation Research, and Advanced Technology Program. Two more options for those interested in funding resources are the Federal Register and Commerce Business Daily.
While each of the databases is searchable in and of itself, there are cross-referencing tools that link databases. Under development are document delivery tools that will allow researchers to order and receive documents electronically. Online documentation is available to assist in searching techniques for better results.
