The award recognizes a currently enrolled undergraduate residential student who has made a substantial contribution to the university through the development or support of an imaginative and outstanding residence halls program or project during the 1996-97 academic year. Recipients receive a cash award and a plaque noting their significant contribution to the university.
Licitra was honored for her highly successful Anti Rape Task Force Mock Trial project. Second-place honors went to Edward Ip for his development of the residence halls' first para-professional newsletter, a monthly publication providing a common link between the North and South campuses. Tied for third place were Heidi Ravenel for her leadership in developing the Lesbian Bi/Gay Friendly Discussion Group project, and David Montag for organizing the Wilkeson Hall Council Toronto Raptors Bus Trip project.
An award ceremony was held on Monday, April 28, in the Jeannette Martin Room. Claude Welch, Faculty Senate Chair and SUNY Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Political Science, presented the awards.
