Research taking downturn, FSEC told; Landi ties drop-off in research proposals to loss of 78 faculty members
A husband-and-wife team of psychiatrists at UB has received a $2.6 million grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to conduct one of the first major population-based studies aimed at finding the gene or genes that may be linked to schizophrenia.
Gene link to schizophrenia sought
Between 1991 and 1996, 78 faculty members left UB, taking with them $8.7 million in research funding, Vice President for Research Dale M. Landi told the Faculty Senate Executive Committee at its Oct. 22 meeting.
