Join your colleagues for a little attitude adjustment by attending UB's fourth annual Wellness Awareness Day, set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 28 in the main gym of Alumni Arena on the North Campus.

Employees will be given release time to attend the event, says H. William Coles III, chair of the Professional Staff Senate and associate director of the Center for Academic Development Services/Educational Opportunity Program.

The free event, sponsored by the PSS and the Faculty Senate, is an effort to promote the wellness of faculty, staff and graduate students. Among the activities will be cooking demonstrations by staff of local restaurants, stress busters, exercise and exercise equipment demonstrations, retirement and financial information, and other demonstrations, displays, lectures, question-and-answer sessions, and assessments and screenings geared toward promoting physical and psychological well-being.

UB Fit Health screenings will be available at the event again this year, free of charge. Registration is required and is limited to 90 employees. To make an appointment, call Recreation and Intramural Services at 645-2286 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This screening includes cardiovascular risk analysis, blood pressure and heart rate, cholesterol, body fat percentage determination, body mass index, grip strength, flexibility and more.

Anyone interested in participating may make an appointment for a blood draw and analysis by calling 1-800-234-8888. The screenings will be held from 7-9:30 a.m. Feb. 17 and 18 in 172 Farber Hall, South Campus; from 7:30-10 a.m. Feb. 19 and 20 in 145A Student Union, North Campus; from 7:30-10 a.m. Feb. 21 in 210 Student Union, and from 7:30-10 a.m. Feb. 24 in 145A Student Union.
