CFA to present "Red Riding Hood"

The Center for the Arts will present Missoula Children's Theatre's production of "Red Riding Hood" at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Mainstage theater.

"Red Riding Hood" is part of The Family Adventure Series sponsored by Tops Friendly Markets. Media sponsors are WGRZ-TV and WJYE-FM.

In addition to professional actors, the production will feature more than 50 local children in various roles who will be chosen during an open audition on Sept. 30.

"Red Riding Hood" puts a new spin on the classic fairy tale. A pre-teen Red Riding Hood and her pals try to stay on the straight and narrow in this adventure. The show also features the Big Bad Wolf—who is not so bad after all—a friendly neighborhood Forest Ranger, a pack of woefully nasty young wolves and a handsome Woodsman. With help from her family and a loyal young Locksmith, Red finds her Grandma and a whole lot more.

Tickets for "Red Riding Hood" are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children ages 12 and under. They are available at the CFA box office from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and at all Ticketmaster locations. For more information, call 645-ARTS.

The performance will be followed by a panel discussion featuring such nursing leaders as Barbara Bauch of Buffalo Mercy Hospital, president of CWA Local 1133; Patricia DeVinney, president of CWA Local 1168, and Barbara Crane of St. Catherine's of Sienna Hospital on Long Island, representing the New York State Nurses Association.
