Brent Arcangel, coordinator of student employment program

A memorial service was held on Friday for Brent D. Arcangel, coordinator of the student employment program in the Office of Career Services, who died on July 13 in an automobile accident near Binghamton. He was 23.

A Village of Hamburg native, he earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in higher education, both from UB.

Arcangel began working for Career Services as a GA in September 2001, and joined the staff as a full-time employee in January 2003.

"He was an extraordinary young man with a truly brilliant future ahead of him," said Daniel J. Ryan, director of career services. "He was the ideal model of the perfect employee; in fact, I have used him as an example in workshops and classroom discussions."

Arcangel also recently had become a legislative assistant to Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds, R-Clarence, at his district office.

He was active in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers. He also enjoyed outdoor activities, golf and attending Buffalo Bills games.

Contributions to the Brent Arcangel Memorial Fund may be made in care of M&T, 1 Fountain Plaza, Buffalo, 14203-1495.
