Conference rescheduled
"Get It Together," a conference sponsored by the Professional Staff Senate that had been scheduled for tomorrow, June 11, has been postponed due to Gov. George Pataki's order that state offices and agencies, including UB, close in observance of the funeral of former President Ronald Reagan.
The conference has been rescheduled for June 17. For further information, contact the PSS office at 645-2003.
Summer Dance Program to be held
The Department of Theatre & Dance once again will offer a Summer Dance Program for dancers of all abilities.
The Day Program, to be held July 5, 7 and 9, and July 12, 14 and 16, will feature morning classes for dancers at the beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced levels. The Morning Technique Classes, to be held from 9 a.m. to noon, will include ballet, modern and jazz. Afternoon Intensive Study, to be held from 1-3 p.m., will feature concentrated study in tap, Broadway dance styles and repertoire during the first week and study in jazz techniquesfrom classic to hip-hopduring the second week.
Costs range from $50-$150, depending upon the program. Pre-registration is encouraged. Participants must be at least freshmen in high school.
The Evening Program will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, beginning on Tuesday and running through July 22. It will feature intermediate/advanced-level master classes in ballet, modern dance and jazz.
Costs range from $7 for a single class to $72 for 16 classes. Registration will be accepted at the door. Participants must be at least 16 years of age.
All classes will take place in the dance studiosrooms B82 and B84in the Center for the Arts, North Campus. Department of Theatre & Dance faculty, staff and guest artists will teach.
Classes are open to all dancers; studio members; UB faculty, staff and students, and community members.

Technical theater workshops to be held
The Center for the Arts will offer "Explore the Arts," a series of technical theater workshops for high school students, Aug. 16-18.
Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the CFA, North Campus.
The workshops are designed to introduce and expand participants' knowledge and interest in the technical aspects of theatrical arts, and enhance creativity and personal expression while providing a foundation for growth and development.
UB professional staff and faculty members will provide instruction, which will be at an introductory level.
The schedule:
Introduction to Technical Theater, Aug. 16. Students will be introduced to basic sound, lighting and staging concepts and terms. They also will learn what equipment is used and how it is put into practice. This course is recommended, but not required, if students do not have previous theatrical instruction.
Technical Theater Sound, Aug. 17. Students will be exposed to basic sound principles and design, live sound equipment, signal distribution, mixing techniques and troubleshooting.
Technical Theater Lighting, Aug. 18. Students will receive instruction on basic lighting principles and design, instruments, hanging and focusing, and troubleshooting.
A $15 non-refundable registration fee is required at time of registration. Workshops are individually priced, ranging from $25 to $45. The balance of the workshop fee must be paid by Aug. 6, the registration deadline. Participants can register for all three workshops at a discounted rate of $100. Fee includes instruction and materials.
