Teaching workshop to be held
The Center for Teaching and Learning Resources and Cora P. Maloney College will co-host the "Third Annual Teaching Workshop: A Commitment to Excellence in College Teaching" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 24 in the Jeannette Martin Room, 567 Capen Hall, North Campus. The luncheon presentation will be free.
The presentation will be given by Stewart M. Brower, information management education coordinator for the Health Sciences Library.
Bower will examine the teaching methods that work best in reaching the latest generation of college students, dubbed the "millennials" by historians and social scientists.
This generation includes all students born after 1980the students currently walking the halls of many colleges and universities. Millennials are the most numerous, affluent, and ethnically diverse generation in American history and can be a demanding group to instruct, especially in information skills, where there is an underlying assumption that they excel.
