Register online for SEFA Day of Caring

Members of the UB community who wish to participate in the SEFA Day of Caring, to be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 18, should register at the SEFA Web site at http://sefa.buffalo.edu/2004/ by tomorrow.

This year, all UB volunteers will be at Tifft Nature Preserve, performing a variety of activities and programs.

The day's program will begin at HSBC Arena, where there will be free parking available. Volunteers should arrive by 8 a.m. to check in and will be treated to a continental breakfast and a sendoff from city and county officials.

Since parking is limited at Tifft Nature Preserve, buses will take volunteers to the site and will return them to HSBC Arena, where lunch and entertainment will be provided.

Winner of "The Apprentice" to speak

Bill Rancic, winner of the first season of NBC's hit reality-show, "The Apprentice," will speak at 8 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Mainstage theater in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

The 32-year-old Rancic persevered through a series of "Survivor"-like competitions of the corporate jungle and was "hired" by the legendary business tycoon Donald Trump.

Already a multi-million-dollar business entrepreneur, Rancic credits hard work and determination for his success, both on the show and in living the American dream.

Called a "lecturer with a passionate vision," Rancic will speak about success in business, in life, and on "The Apprentice."

Outside of the show, Rancic is the founder and president of CigarsAroundtheWorld.com, a highly profitable online business. He started Cigars Around the World in a small apartment eight years ago, and today it is a multi-million-dollar national operation and a subsidiary of Synergy Brands' Gran Reserve.

Rancic also has penned a new inspirational business book, "You're Hired: How to Succeed in Business and Life," scheduled for release on Sept. 14.

In addition to his cigar company, Rancic develops real estate and speaks at universities and businesses around the country.

Tickets for Rancic's lecture are $20 and are available at the CFA box office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and at all Ticketmaster locations.
