UB Libraries BookBag

Hey, we got the message loud and clear. With a few computer key strokes, you wanted a listing of the books and other materials you have checked out of the UB Libraries. And we wanted to give you that capability.

Unfortunately, our mainframe-based BISON catalog isn't up to the task of providing what we call "patron empowerment" and what you quite rightly call "good customer service." So our crackerjack systems analyst teamed up with our dedicated circulation staffers to develop a homegrown solution. Now, MyBookBag is available to you via the Libraries Web site at http://ublib.buffalo.edu.

Log on to MyBookBag with your UB Card's 14-digit 29072 library number and your initials in CAPS, and a list of all the books and other library materials you have checked out on that account will appear on your screen. Want to put through a renewal request? Click on the "Renew My Books" button and submit your name and email address. We will send you an email receipt for your request.

Of course, not all library materials are renewable (e.g., items being formally requested through the recall/hold process by another UB student or staff member). Just remember to read the fine print before you hit the submit button.

But what if your BookBag is empty? Find out what's new on our shelves by going to our New Books & More database on the main http://ublib.buffalo.edu screen under "Library Information." You'll find lots of 2004 titles, including:

  • "Big Russ and Me: Father and Son; Lessons of Life," by Tim Russert

  • "The Americanization of Benjamin Franklin," by Gordon S. Wood

  • "Action Chicks: New Images of Tough Women in Popular Culture," edited by Sherrie A. Inness

  • "No Debate: How the Republican and Democratic Parties Secretly Control the Presidential Debates," by George Farah

  • "Math Hysteria: Fun and Games with Mathematics," by Ian Stewart

  • "A Brief History of the Smile," by Angus Trumble

  • "Blood and Soap: Stories," by Linh Dinh

  • "Wondrous Strange: The Life and Art of Glenn Gould," by Kevin Bazzana

  • "Imitation of Life: How Biology is Inspiring Computing," by Nancy Forbes

  • "America on Trial: Inside the Legal Battles that Transformed our Nation," by Alan M. Dershowitz

  • "New and Selected Poems, 1974-2004," by Carl Dennis

  • "Jealous Gods and Chosen People: The Mythology of the Middle East," by David Leeming

  • "Into the Unknown: Leadership Lessons from Lewis and Clark's Daring Westward Adventure," by Jack Uldrich

  • "I am Alive and You are Dead: A Journey into the Mind of Philip K. Dick," by Emmanuel Carrere

Who needs to travel to Barnes & Noble or drop a chunk of change at Amazon.com? Fill up your BookBag with new books arriving on our shelves daily. Need assistance? Use our "Ask Us" link found on the top of our http://ublib.buffalo.edu home page.
