The Office of Admissions won five prestigious awards at the SUNYCAP (State University of New York College Admissions Professionals) annual conference held in Corning. Jennifer Gayles and Jessica Clark, both admissions advisors, won Outstanding Achievement Awards for meritorious service. Megan Hallock and Jason Miller, also admissions advisors, earned the New Professional Award and the Rookie of the Year Award, respectively. Jennifer Hess, assistant director, was recognized with the Admissions Professional Award.
Sandra Mendel, director of the Histology Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, has been named Histotechnologist of the Year for Region 1 (Northeastern states) of the National Society for Histotechnology.
Jeffrey Skolnick of the Buffalo Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, has been named to the Biophysical Society's 2005 class of society fellows for his significant contributions to the field of computational biology. Skolnick was recognized in particular for his pioneering role in the use of reduced protein models and force fields for protein-structure prediction.
