Football

Connecticut 38, UB 0

UB struggled to get its offense going in the opening game of the season, falling to Connecticut, 38-0, at Rentschler Field on Sept. 1. A sold-out crowd of 40,000 watched the Huskies outgain the Bulls, 422-137, in total yardage.

Stewart Sampsel made his first career start at quarterback for the Bulls. The junior signal caller, who was under pressure for much of the night, finished 6-for-17 for 51 yards. Junior transfer Tony Paoli saw time in the fourth quarter and went 4-for-4 for nine yards. Neither quarterback threw an interception.

MEN'S

UB 3, Valparaiso 2
UB 5, Cleveland State 0

Down a goal at halftime, UB was re-energized in the second half by a two-goal performance from senior Greg Galemore to overtake Valparaiso, 3-2, in the opening round of the Bulls Fall Classic at UB Stadium on Friday night.

On Sunday, UB upended Cleveland State, 5-0, with a supercharged offensive attack that featured three goals in three minutes after a sluggish first half to conclude the Bulls Fall Classic.

WOMEN'S

UB 2, Jacksonville 2 (2OT)
Central Florida 2, UB 1

Competing in the Central Florida Tournament last weekend, UB missed earning a victory on Saturday afternoon against Jacksonville University, tying the Dolphins, 2-2, despite holding them to just 10 shots in 110 minutes.

On Monday, two goals in the first six minutes from SoccerBuzz.com's 27th-ranked Central Florida were enough to skim past the Bulls, 2-1, in the final round of the tournament.
