Don't forget victims of Katrina

To the Editor:

I read the article "Bringing Hope to New Orleans" (Reporter, Feb. 9) with great interest.

I have a sister who lives in Biloxi, Miss., and although she survived Hurricane Katrina, her home and belongings have been damaged and destroyed.

Some of the people who survived Katrina are not only dealing with the loss of personal material possessions and post-traumatic stress disorder, but are still fighting for their very existence.

First, they had to endure the fury of Katrina. Now, they have to deal

with FEMA and trailers with multiple problems, contractors, insurance companies, toxic dumping and volunteers who mean well, but sometimes just add to their problems.

They need our continued prayers and help until they reach a point in their lives where they are able to help themselves.

Please, don't forget the victims of Katrina. These people are still going through a lot, and this will continue for a long time to come.
