To the Editor:

I must agree with President John Simpson's comments, reported in the March 2 online issue of the Reporter, that clickers in the classroom could be a waste of $28 to $68 per student.

I am a nontraditional student and have taught fifth grade. Body language is approximately two-thirds of communication. If an instructor can't tell by the dumbfounded looks on students' faces that they are confused about some concept being taught in class, then that instructor is not in tune with his or her students.

The $28 to $68 cost of clickers per student could be better spent on something like Metro Bus passes, which cost about $25 per semester per student.
