UB hosts Chinese art exhibit

"The Wall," the most ambitious exhibition of contemporary Chinese art to travel beyond China, opened on Oct. 20.

At left, dry ice provides an ethereal quality to "Urban Landscape," a replica of the Buffalo skyline in the UB Anderson Gallery. Artist Zhan Wang constructed the piece from pots, pans, utensils, serving trays and chafing dishes.

Artist Chen Qiulin, dressed in a bridal gown, sits in a shopping cart in the Center for the Arts Atrium and applies makeup while eight men pull the cart by their necks. Each man wears a dog collar and is tethered to the shopping cart by a nylon leash. The performance piece is titled "I Exist, I Consume, I am Happy."
