Olsen to step down as law dean
Nils Olsen announced Monday that he will step down in December as dean of the UB Law School to attend to personal and family health issues. » Full Story
Framing UB. The university has launched a year-long contest in which students, faculty and staff are asked to submit photos and videos of their favorite and not-so-favorite places on campus.
Institute to join MacArthur initiative. Kathryn A. Foster, director of UB's Regional Institute, will serve as co-investigator for the Network on Building Resilient Regions, a recently launched initiative funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
New receptor action described. A formerly unknown action of the acetylcholine receptor channel, a protein that regulates the electrical activity of nerve and muscle cells, is described by UB biophysicists in today's issue of the journal Nature.
Making a difference in fight against HIV. Faculty member Patty Fan-Havard is working to help babies of HIV-positive mothers be born free of the virus.
Watson receives CAREER Award. Faculty member David Watson has been awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER Award to develop new self-assembly techniques for nanomaterials that could enhance solar cells.
Summer lecture series announced. Members of the university's internationally renowned faculty will share their expertise on a variety of topics during the UBThisSummer Lecture Series.
Focus on Parks. The work of African-American playwright Suzan-Lori Parks will be the focus of two free public events at UB.
Straw greenhouse rises on West Side. UB architecture students are using a nontraditional building material to construct a greenhouse for the Massachusetts Avenue Project.
Post-concussion help. UB researchers have developed a new therapy that helped Buffalo Sabre Tim Connolly return to the ice after being sidelined for 11 months with post-concussion syndrome.
Sexual harassment training course. An online training course designed to help participants recognize and deal with sexual harassment on campus will be available this summer, members of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee learned yesterday.
