Colbert added to Distinguished Speakers Series
Addition comes with Jones’ cancellation of April 4 lecture

Assistant Vice President
Comedian, satirist, actor and writer Stephen Colbert has been added to the spring lineup of UB’s Distinguished Speakers Series.
Colbert will speak at 8 p.m. April 4 in Alumni Arena, North Campus.
Award-winning actor James Earl Jones, who originally was scheduled to speak on that date, has cancelled his appearance to star in a new Broadway production of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” UB hopes to invite Jones to participate in a future season of the series.
Colbert is the host of Comedy Central’s Emmy-nominated nightly show, “The Colbert Report.” The show’s irreverent, yet topically informative, style draws a large audience of young adults.
In 2006, Time magazine named Colbert one of its 100 most influential people. Known for his deadpan delivery, he rose to fame as senior political correspondent on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” Colbert is the author of the current New York Times best seller “I Am America (And So Can You!)”.
The undergraduate Student Association has selected Colbert as its “Student Choice Speaker,” which assures that half of the seating in Alumni Arena will be dedicated to students. Time Warner Cable Business Class is lecture sponsor for the event.
Ticket holders for the cancelled James Earl Jones event are eligible for a full refund, or they may exchange their tickets for tickets for Colbert’s appearance. Click here for information and instructions on how to obtain refunds or ticket exchanges.
Colbert tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Feb. 4 at the Alumni Arena Ticket Office, at Tops Friendly Markets and at Tickets.com.
The block of tickets reserved for UB students will be made available on campus in early March, before spring break.
