Hans Kipping, dermatologist, professor emeritus

Hans F. Kipping, a dermatologist and UB clinical professor emeritus, died unexpectedly on Feb. 1. He was 84.

Born in Chicago, Kipping graduated in 1947 from the UB medical school.

He did his residency in dermatology at E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital—now Erie County Medical Center—and Buffalo General Hospital in the 1950s, then went on to private practice in Amherst.

Kipping worked with UB dermatology residents and the medical school held a dinner in his honor in the early 1990s.

He retired in 2006 and last year participated in the 60th reunion of his medical school class.

Kipping was a member of the American Academy of Dermatologists, the American Board of Dermatology and Dermatopathology and the Cutaneous Therapy Society. He was also a member of the International Wine and Food Society.
