Tens of thousands of spectators will flock to the North Campus on July 4 to watch a spectacular fireworks display over Lake LaSalle and celebrate Independence Day.
UB has been collaborating with the Town of Amherst since 1991 to put on the show.
An estimated 40,000 to 50,000 people are expected to watch the fireworks at or near Baird Point and at other spots on the North Campus, based on the turnout of previous years. Thousands more likely will park along Millersport Highway, Sweet Home Road and other nearby roadways, making the Independence Day fireworks the largest event that occurs at UB each year.
The entertainment will begin at 7 p.m., artist to be announced. The Erie County Wind Ensemble will perform at 8:45 p.m. until the fireworks begin at 10 p.m.
In the event of rain, the fireworks display will be held on July 19 in Bassett Park in Amherst.
