CLIMB UP Benefits

  • Research. Get hands-on research experience during the 9-week program with a participating faculty member whose interests are complimentary to your own. The summer will culminate with you and your peers presenting your work at the Summer Research Day.
  • Mentoring. In addition to your faculty mentor, you will receive mentoring and guidance from graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and the CLIMB leadership to ensure you have a productive and fulfilling summer. They will work with you on your research project, help you prepare your presentations, and provide insight on careers in science.
  • Stipend. Funds are provided for all accepted students.
  • Housing and Travel. Housing and travel are provided to students who live 50 miles outside of Buffalo, NY.
  • Weekly Workshops. CLIMB UP's BioieSTEM Scientific Discovery Series introduces students to research fields available at UB. Faculty from various departments will present an overview of their laboratory work, and will describe their career paths to show students the variety of options they can achieve with their degree.
  • Networking. Learn more about fellowship and scholarship opportunities as well as building lasting connections with mentors and other students.
