Addictions institute to merge with UB Proposal to make RIA part of university awaits approval by New York State Legislature
The Research Institute on Addictions (RIA), currently an arm of the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), is slated to become part of UB as soon as the New York State Legislature approves.
Gen-ed curriculum to be extended
The highly touted general-education curriculum that most students entering UB as freshmen and majoring in the arts and sciences have been following since 1992 will be extended to all freshmen-although without the language requirement for some-beginning with those entering the university this fall.
