University at Buffalo (UB)
This exhibition features the work of thirty-two faculty members from two Beijing universities, Capital Normal University and Beijing School of Arts and Design. Delicate ink and watercolor paintings of landscapes, flowers, and animals, as well as figurative narrative motifs on silk paper, have defined the Chinese traditional-style for the last one thousand years. The works in this show represent the most recent developments in this ancient tradition.
Supporting lectures on the history of Chinese art and on the contemporary traditional style will be delivered by visiting professors Sun Zhijun, dean of the Arts Department of Capital Normal University, and Pan Fei, vice president of Beijing School of Arts and Design.
