In this exhibition, we see realities—physical reality along with the enchantment of imaging technology—pushed to a critical point beyond which they would become unrecognizable. The work of Paul Johnson brings the viewer into the circuit physically, so to speak—fully embodied as opposed to virtually flattened. The experience is, perhaps, less than magical. Empowering and utilitarian on the one hand, rhythmically seductive on the other, Johnson manages to position the viewer in an intriguing encounter with the digital frontier.
