Founded in 1980, the Society’s primary aim is to promote, teach and exhibit transparent watercolor. It is one of a very few Watercolor Societies today dedicated entirely to the transparent medium.
Exhibition juror, Mel Stabin is an internationally known teacher, author, and award-winning watercolorist. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Stabin studied the art of watercolor with Edgar Whitney. He is a Signature member of several prestigious art societies including AWS, NWS, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Watercolor West, and the Allied Artists of America. He has written numerous feature articles for American Artist, The Artist’s Magazine, Watercolor, Watercolor Magic, and Watercolor Artist. Stabin is the author of Watercolor: Simple, Fast and Focused and The Figure in Watercolor: Simple, Fast and Focused.
