From the Vault & 25 for 25

Opening Reception

A painting by Curtis Robinson depicting the exterior of UB Anderson Gallery on a clear, blue-skied day. The building’s distinctive brick and glass façade stretches across the canvas, flanked by manicured landscaping and an empty parking lot in the foreground. On the right, a bold black abstract sculpture anchors the curved driveway near a small white gazebo. To the far right, colorful houses in yellow, white, and blue add a residential backdrop, with visible power lines and a hand-painted sign reading “Anderson Gallery Exhibition Entrance.”.

Description

Join us for the opening of two exhibitions celebrating the 25th anniversary of UB Art Galleries.

From the Vault: Staff Selections from the Collection invites visitors to see the collection through the eyes of the people who make the galleries work—from gallery attendants and installers to administrators and interns. Each selected artwork reflects a personal connection, revealing the diverse ways art resonates with those behind the scenes.

25 for 25: Promised Gifts from the Gerald Mead Collection honors collector, curator, and UB alumnus Gerald C. Mead Jr. through a landmark bequest of 25 works. Featuring artists with ties to Western New York, this exhibition reflects Mead’s decades-long commitment to building a collection that celebrates the region’s creative legacy.

Celebrate this milestone year with us as we reflect on the past and look ahead to the future of UB Art Galleries.
