Description

Join us for the second annual Parking Lot Party! Held in conjunction with the University Heights Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk, this community event promises a day full of art, activities, and enjoyment in the heart of University Heights.

Explore Our Exhibitions:

  • History is Present: Zorawar Sidhu and Rob Swainston’s exhibition of big and bold woodblock prints confront and contextualize modern social challenges and the history of printmaking as sites of dissent.
  • Looking Up: An exhibition of artists’ celestial interpretations from the UB Art Galleries permanent collection.
  • Looking Down: A site-specific installation designed by faculty from the UB School of Architecture + Planning, Zorawar Sidhu and Rob Swainston, and UB Art Galleries staff for the recent eclipse will cast beautiful shadows all summer long.

Art and Exploration
During the Parking Lot Party, the UB Anderson Gallery will feature two exhibitions:

•  History is Present by Zorawar Sidhu and Rob Swainston on the first floor, showcasing large-scale woodblock prints that confront and contextualize modern catastrophes through the lens of art history, activism, and protest.
•  Looking Up: Celestial Work from the UB Art Galleries Permanent Collection offers a journey through artistic interpretations of the cosmos, inspired by the recent total solar eclipse.

Outdoor Attractions
Attendees can enjoy a variety of outdoor attractions throughout the day:

•  Interactive Art Installation: Looking Down, designed for safe eclipse observation, developed in collaboration with UB School of Architecture faculty and artists Sidhu and Swainston.
