Law students who exemplify leadership ability and dedication to public service receive scholarships through this fund, named in honor of UB’s 13th president.
The Professor William R. Greiner Scholarship Endowment Fund supports a scholarship to the Law School for a student who is commited to the Western New York community. It is preferred that the scholarship be awarded to an incoming first-year student and that during the second year of Law School or the following summer the recipient will engage in a public service activity project in Western New York, or similar activity approved by the Dean of the Law School.
The fund was established in 2004 by various donors in honor of William R. Greiner, who spent 42 years at UB as president, provost and longtime Law School faculty member.
Greiner’s 36-year affiliation with the university began in 1967 when he joined the faculty of the UB Law School. He served for seven years as the university’s first provost before his appointment as president in 1991.
During his time at UB, Greiner was driven by his dedication to the students at the university, and led many changes that greatly improved their lives.
