Checking In: Step by Step
Important Reminders about Check In
- Arrive anytime during your assigned 1-hour appointment window
- It is recommended that you complete move in within 3 hours of your arrival at the check in station
- Students must have a photo ID to complete check in
- Know your housing assignment, building and room number
- The UB Card Office will be open for new students who have not received their UB ID card at orientation. To receive your card, please bring a valid form of photo ID (government issued).
How to Check In
During Scheduled Appointment Times
- Arrive at Clement Hall during your 1-hour appointment window
- Thursday, Aug 22: Enter Michael Road from Bailey Avenue and follow signage to Goodyear Road
- Friday, Aug 23 and later: Enter Goodyear Road directly from Bailey Avenue.
- Exit your vehicle and proceed to the check-in tent located across from the entrance to Goodyear Hall
- Receive your key(s) and a post card with directions and other important information.
- Unload your vehicle as directed (curbside near Clement Hall). Do not leave belongings unattended.
- Move your car to long-term parking spaces/overflow lot (Main/Bailey Lot or other location as directed by onsite staff).
- Begin moving belongings to your assigned room.
- Report to the Main Street Area Office in 119 Goodyear Hall.
- Call University Police at 716-645-2227. Tell them you are checking in after hours.
- A live-in staff member will meet you on-site.
- Do not unload belongings until after checking in.
- Receive your key(s) and a post card with directions and other important information.
- Park in designated unloading zones.
- Unload your vehicle. Do not leave belongings unattended.
- Move your car to long-term parking spaces/overflow lots.
- Begin moving belongings to your assigned room.
- Early Arrival check in times are 9am – 6pm from Saturday, Aug. 17, to Wednesday, Aug. 21.
- Students approved for Early Arrival may arrive any time during published hours. Appointments are not required.
- New students arriving at UB before August 22 must apply and be approved for Early Arrival.
- The earliest possible date to arrive for fall 2024 is Saturday, August 17.

- Apartments (Creekside, Flint, Flickinger, Hadley, South Lake): Assigned Village Offices
- Ellicott (Evans, Fargo, Red Jacket, Richmond, Spaulding, Wilkeson):
- 8/17-8/20 - Ellicott Area Office in 123 Richmond
- 8/21 - Richmond Check-in Tent, located in Moody Terrace (across from Richmond Building 2)
- Governors (Lehman, Clinton, Dewey, Roosevelt):
- 8/17-8/20 - Governors Area Office in 108 Lehman Hall
- 8/21 - Governors check in tent, located near entrance to Lehman Hall
- 8/17-8/20 - Governors Area Office in 108 Lehman Hall
- Greiner: Greiner Hall Area Office in 102 Greiner Hall
- South Campus (Clement, Goodyear): Main Street Area Office in 119 Goodyear Hall
- Moving carts are available in designated areas
- Carts must be checked out with a staff member before use.
- A UBID is required for check out.
- Only one cart can be issued to each student at a time.
- Carts should be returned as soon as you are finished using them.
- Carts must be returned to a staff member in a designated area.
- Carts can only be issued and returned during posted business hours.
- If your cart is not returned by the close of business, keep it until the following day.
- Unreturned carts will be assessed an $138 replacement fee.

Walking Directions from the Unloading Area
- Use main entrance to Clement lobby.
- Turn right to access building elevators.
- Go to your assigned floor.
- Upon exiting the elevator, turn right for rooms X00 through X15 (where X is your floor number) and turn left for rooms X16 through X31
