Greetings from Campus Living

Whether you are returning from winter break, or coming to live at UB for the first time, we welcome you to your home away from home. We are committed to providing a safe, clean and vibrant community for you to excel personally and academically from the moment you arrive here.

Living on campus provides you with built-in connections to academic programs, as well as opportunities to become involved with student clubs and organizations all while making friends that will last a lifetime.

Opening Dates

Returning Students Opening Date: January 18, 2025

On-campus residence halls and apartments re-open at 9 a.m. If you are a retuning student, you may go directly to your assigned room. You are not required to check-in in person or meet with any staff upon arrival.

  • You will need to complete spring check-in process in the housing portal.
  • Don't forget to bring your UB ID card and keys.

New Residents

This helpful section details the items you may want to consider before your move to campus. The following tabs detail the items included in residence hall rooms and apartments.

For your safety, the following items are prohibited in our residences:
  • Air Conditioners (Prohibited in Residence Halls - Apartments are Air Conditioned)
  • Bed Risers (Residence Halls & Apartments)
  • Candles (Residence Halls & Apartments)
  • Extension Cords (Residence Halls & Apartments) Surge protectors only
  • Hover-Boards (Residence Halls & Apartments)
  • Incense (Residence Halls & Apartments)
  • Microwave Oven (Residence Halls - Apartments include microwave in unit)
    • You are permitted to rent a MicroFridge, if you would like a microwave in your room. *MicroFridge's are the only permitted microwaves in Campus Living.
  • Oil Burning, Halogen, Torchiere/ Tree-style a Multi-head or Octopus-style Lamps (Residence Halls & Apartments)
  • Cooking Appliances (Residence Halls):
    • Air Fryer
    • Crock Pot
    • Hot Plate
    • Grilling Machine
    • Rice Cooker
    • Sandwich Maker
    • Slow Cooker
    • Toaster
  • Pets (other than fish - 10 gallon tanks or less)
  • Alcohol (prohibited in first-year areas and for persons under 21)
  • Permanent adhesives and nails
  • Weapons (e.g. firearms, airsoft guns, non-kitchen knives)
  • Flammable, combustible liquids such as lighter fluid, propane or butane

Checking In: Step by Step

Check In at Ellicott

All Ellicott Complex residents must check-in at The Landing at the Ellicott Complex. Report to the front desk in The Landing to receive your key.

  1. Park in the lot closest to your check in location and proceed to the nearest entrance. Do not unload at this time. 
  2. You will receive your key(s) and directions to your assigned parking lot and other important information.
  3. Use the provided Google map to navigate to the parking lot closest to your building.
  4. Unload your vehicle then you (or a helper) will move your car to long-term parking space. In the meantime you (or helpers) may begin moving belongings to your assigned room.
Moving In After Hours?

If you need to arrive after published hours, call the number posted at the area or complex office; or contact University Police at 716-645-2227 upon arrival on campus. They will notify a staff member on duty to meet you at your check-in site.

Finding your Quad

We have created custom Google maps to help you find the parking lot closest to your assigned building. 

When the map loads, click "Directions" to get turn by turn navigation to the unloading zone.

Moving Carts

  • Moving carts are available in designated areas
  • Carts must be checked out with a staff member before use.
  • A UBID is required for check out.
  • Only one cart can be issued to each student at a time.
  • Carts should be returned as soon as you are finished using them.
  • Carts must be returned to a staff member in a designated area.
  • Carts can only be issued and returned during posted business hours.
  • If your cart is not returned by the close of business, keep it until the following day.
  • Unreturned carts will be assessed an $138 replacement fee.
