The Arts Management program has teamed up with arts departments across the University at Buffalo to deliberately link critical artistic and management inquiry to create a dynamic investigation of arts environments. These combined degree programs will increase employment prospects by creating new perspectives designed to give students the versatility to enter, and then grow in the field, as either an artist, a manager, or an artist/manager. Not only that, you can finish in 5 years instead of 6.
The length of time to complete these programs is 5 years (10 semesters). For the typical student, six of these semesters will be dedicated to undergraduate study. During the seventh semester, students will register for three graduate level courses in addition to undergraduate coursework. In the eighth semester, students will matriculate fully into the MA in Arts Management.
Admission requirements will not change for the programs. Freshman will seek admission into their bachelor's degrees as they normally would and follow those criteria. Students entering into the MA will be required to have a 3.0 overall GPA and complete the requisite application materials for review by the graduate application committee (academic essay, resume, personal statement, and two letters of recommendation).
Students may apply for the BA/MA program starting in their 5th semester (typically Fall of their Junior year). If approved, the student will be allowed to take graduate courses starting as early as their 6th semester and be granted conditional admission into the MA. At the end of the student’s 7th semester, faculty will evaluate student progress in graduate coursework to determine whether the student will be allowed to continue in the graduate program.
