Graduating Class (Year): 2009
What you are up to now?
I am working at the Television and Marketing Service of the International Olympic Committee as Licensing Manager.
What led you into arts management?
Having a major degree in music and minor degree in business administration, it was natural for me to step into arts management.
Most memorable experience in the Program?
I will say the summer programme held in Sweden and Finland in 2008. It was a great opportunity to interact with students and scholars from different countries and backgrounds on various topics such as arts and cultural policy, philosophy, etc.
What do you wish you knew then that you know now?
All the lessons and knowledge I gained throughout my career were helpful and valuable because I learnt them in the working context at that time. Thus, even if I knew something then in the past, it would not have the same effect and value to me. So do not hesitate to experience, feel and learn based on what you have learnt from the arts management programme.
Advice for current/prospective students?
It is important to have a broad view to thrive in this quickly changing environment. To this end, it is worthwhile to explore different disciplines and formulate your own values and direction which will lead you to a better possibility in the field where you want to work. Arts management, which is the interdisciplinary programme, that University at Buffalo offers will provide a chance to learn about various disciplines, but highly related, from arts and culture to business and law.
