Jessie Poon is Professor at the Department of Geography. She has published more than 100 articles on firms, trade and investment, is editor of Environment and Planning A and serves on several editorial boards.

Poon currently chairs the Regional Studies Association.  Her recent work explores the socio-economic factors that influence misinformation. Her co-authored book titled “Misinformation in the Digital Age: An American Infodemic” is expected to be published end of 2022 or early 2023. This books explores how misinformation in the digital age calls attention to the multiple geographic dimensions of online fictions, conspiracy theories, trade, climate misinformation, and political disinformation. She is working on a project that examines misinformation in the context of Singapore which strictly regulates online discourses.
