BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Courtney J. Walsh has been named executive director of the Executive MBA program in the University at Buffalo School of Management. She is responsible for marketing, administration and recruitment for the program, designed for Western New York's leading executives. She also is responsible for marketing and recruitment for the school's Professional MBA program, designed for entry- and mid-level managers.

Prior to her appointment, Walsh served as director of marketing for the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, where she was responsible for strategic marketing initiatives. She also has served as marketing director for Studio Arena Theatre and as sales executive for the New Boston Garden Corp., a division of Delaware North Companies.

A resident of Buffalo, Walsh is a member of the Irish Classical Theater Company Board of Directors and is a member of the board of directors of the Ithaca College Alumni Association. She received a bachelor's degree in management and marketing from Ithaca.

More than 100 Western New York business people have participated in UB's Executive MBA program, created in 1993. The program provides instruction in strategic-management practices for executives who have the potential to assume top-level positions in their organizations. It is one of 110 MBA programs for executives nationwide and the only one in the SUNY system.

The new Professional MBA program will enroll its first class in the fall, providing instruction in management theory and application for managers with at least three years of professional work experience.

Both programs are accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business.
