BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Gaile Amigone, a faculty member in the Art Department at Nardin Academy Elementary School, will lead a family workshop in the UB Anderson Gallery from 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 2. The workshop is intended for families with children of all ages.

The Mandala Mosaics Family Workshop is part of a series of education events at the UB Anderson Gallery that follow-up on the recent visit by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Artist and educator Gaile Amigone will demonstrate and provide instruction on her unique technique of creating mandalas. Using rice rather than sand, this technique has been adapted to simulate the traditional methods of Tibetan mandala sand painting.

Mandala Mosaics Family Workshop will take place in the Arts Education Classroom, Room 215 on second floor of the gallery. The cost of the workshop is $10 per child; art supplies will be provided. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required (visit http://ub.andersongallery.org/mandala to fill out an online form or call 716-829-3754).

UB Anderson Gallery, located at One Martha Jackson Place near Englewood and Kenmore, is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. UB Anderson Gallery is supported with funds from the Office of the Provost, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Anderson Gallery Program Fund and the UB Collection Care and Management Endowment Fund.
