BUFFALO, N.Y. -- UB Center for the Arts will host the Limon Dance Company, March 27-April 15. The residency will include numerous master classes for UB students and outreach activities for area school children.

The Center for the Arts' mission is to present artistically and culturally diverse, high-quality national and international performing arts (dance, music, theater) for the benefit of the Western New York community and the UB student population. As part of its service to the community, the center provides free dance performances and workshops at Western New York schools by professional, national troupes. This is made possible by extensive grantwriting and fundraising. The Center for the Arts' Community Outreach Program is a vital component of our efforts to develop and sustain future audiences for the performing arts.

In collaboration with the internationally famous Limon Dance Company, the Center will provide approximately 35 activities (performances and workshops) at seven diverse schools in the Western New York region. The project will serve approximately 1,700 students in grades K-12 in all. The dance company will conduct free performances and workshops at several area schools including: Herman Badillo Bilingual Academy, Grover Cleveland High School, Aurora Middle School, The Buffalo Academy for the Performing Arts, Nichols School, Gowanda Elementary and the American Academy of Ballet.

Limon Dance Company will also work extensively with UB students in the Department of Theatre and Dance. In addition, the company will offer two master classes open to the public for a nominal fee. Advance reservations are required. For more information and reservations call 645-6921. The company's residency will culminate with a public performance in the Center for the Arts Mainstage Theatre on April 15, offered as part of the KeyBank Dance Series.
