A 1979 graduate of the UB Law School and partner in Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel's real estate practice, Jean Powers has been a loyal and deeply committed volunteer to the Law School and the university for 30 years. She has served on the Dean's Advisory Council for the Law School since 2000 and served as president-elect and president of its alumni association.

In 2004 she received the Law Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award for Community Service, and in 2007 she served on a select committee to formulate the association's strategic plan. A generous and loyal donor to the university, Powers served as chair of the Law School Annual Campaign in 2003-04, and her leadership helped the campaign exceed its goal.

Powers has also mentored law students since 2003, working with them for all three years of their studies. In addition, she has played an important volunteer role with the university, serving as trustee of the UB Foundation since 2003 and providing valuable leadership to the UB Alumni Association in a number of leadership capacities, including president in 1989-99.
