Congratulations on your acceptance to the University at Buffalo! Here are the steps you will take to officially become a UB student.
Once you have decided to enroll at UB, you can secure your seat by making your tuition/enrollment deposit. (Login required.)
If you are planning to live on campus, please visit the Campus Living website to submit a housing application and pay the housing application deposit. The housing application system typically opens in September for the spring semester and February for the fall semester.
Fall Semester: May 1
Spring Semester: Dec. 1
Note: Tuition deposits are accepted after the deadlines on a space-available basis. Don’t lose your chance to study at UB! Make your commitment by the specified deadlines.
Once you have made your tuition/enrollment and housing deposits, it’s time to begin your New International Student Check-in. Activate your UB student account and get started on check-in.
To meet reporting requirements and be able to register for classes, complete your check-in early.
Before we issue your I-20, your admissions counselor will do a final review of all your documents. If we are missing anything, we will contact you via email to let you know what we need.
Once you’ve paid your tuition deposit and uploaded all the required documents, we will create your I-20 (F-1 Visa) or DS-2019 (J-1 Visa). Once issued, you can find the document in your Applicant Status Portal.
Now is the time to get your visa, arrange transportation to the U.S. and determine what you will need while living in Buffalo. We can’t wait to welcome you to our university community!
