2. Do you have a specific interest within veteran/military family care (substance use, mental health, homelessness, etc)? If yes, please identify what those interests are.

3. What qualities do you possess that would be useful in working with veterans and/or military family members?

4. The Focus requires the following:

Required course SW720: Introduction to Issues in Veteran and Military Family Care (typically taken in the Spring semester of the student’s foundation year).
Required field placement with veterans (typically in the student’s advanced year).
Required monthly VMF IPE seminar (to be taken concurrently with the student's advanced year placement).
Portfolio of assignments, developed from at least 3 classes, the majority of which are taken in a student’s advanced year, that focus on veteran and/or military family issues. Total earned points must equal or exceed 90.

5. Communication is a fundamental social work skill. It is very important that as a social work Focus student you have ongoing communication with Joining Forces–UB staff.
